DJI Mavic 2 Pro- Camera Tutorial

DJI Mavic 2 Pro is a high-performance drone used by civilians and professionals alike to capture high-quality images and videos. DJI has teamed up with Hasselblad, the leading camera company, to provide the ultimate camera experience to its customers. The Hasselblad L1D-20c camera is an excellent 20MP camera with a 1″ sensor which offers improved low-light capture capability compared to the previous drones.

How do you zoom in on a Mavic 2 Pro camera?

DJI Mavic 2 Pro offers a wide range of options for professionals who are into ariel photography.

  1. In the DJI GO 4 app, in the settings option, you can find a 5D option. This option is used to access the 5D joystick control options of the drone.
  2. The left and right buttons in this menu are assigned to zoom in and zoom out options, respectively.
  3. These buttons give the facility of zooming in and out to the pilot during the flight.
  4. You can also zoom in and zoom out by spreading and pinching on the mobile screen once the drone is in the air. This option is very feasible and very easy to use.
  5. The only disadvantage of the zoom-in Mavic 2 pro camera is that it doesn’t offer top-quality videos and images with the standard 4k.
  6. When in zoom-in mode, the camera can only take pictures and videos with quality up to 720p or 1080p.

How to move the camera left and right on a DJI Mavic 2 Pro?

  1. Turning the entire aircraft: You cannot turn the camera right or left; you have to rotate the entire aircraft for that. This is one of the basic solutions to the problem.
  2. Gimbal Pan Synchronous Follow: You can also turn on Gimbal pan synchronous follow under advanced Gimbal settings. This will make the gimble move a bit to the right and left in the flight. But the gimbal movement is limited. The camera can move only to a certain angle towards the right or left.
  3. Using DJI Goggles: You can also use the DJI goggles for moving the camera of the DJI Mavic Pro 2 camera. After you have connected the goggles to the drone, you can look either left or right, and the drone camera moves to that side up to a certain angle. The goggles’ problem is that the drone will start banking towards that side when you see the left or right. This may cause instability and, more often than not, a crash.

So, going with the primary option of turning the entire aircraft will be the most secure way to turn the camera.

Mavic 2 Pro camera controls

The usage of the Mavic 2 Pro controller is relatively simple and easy.

  1. Mount your phone onto the controller and connect the cable. Then switch on the controller, and the phone should be automatically connected to the controller.
  2. Find the emergency stop button on the bottom left of the controller screen; this will help you bring your drone to an emergency stop. The drone will start hovering in a single place after pressing this button.
  3. On the right side corner of the controller screen, you can see the 5D button. You can push this button up, down, right, left, and in.
  4. On the top left of the controller, you can find the video recording button, and on the other side, you can find the camera click button.
  5. You can also find two dials on either side of the controller top.
  6. On the back of the controller, you can find two custom buttons. These are the main buttons for operating the drone’s camera.

Now we shall look at the functionality of the buttons. The top left dial helps us with the camera tilt. If you roll it clockwise, you can move the camera down and the other way round when you turn it counterclockwise. In Mavic 2 Pro, the top right dial is the exposure dial. You can increase or decrease the required exposure by rotating the dial. The 5D button on the right side corner of the controller screen is a shortcut to all the functions discussed above. The left and right taps will increase and decrease the exposure. The up and down button will tilt the camera up and down. Pressing it in the drone will show DJI intelligent system menu. You can assign custom buttons on the back of the controller to anything you want in the DJI Go 4 app.

How do I make my Mavic mini camera look down?

You can control Mavic mini camera with the Gimbal settings since it is a Gimbal stabilized drone. Turn the camera settings into manual and switch from follow mode to gimble mode under the Gimbal mode option in settings.

Lower the height of the drone while moving forward. As you have switched to the manual mode, you can now adjust the Gimbal up and down. This way, you can lower the camera of the DJI Mavic mini.
